The Founder,
The Story, The Inspiration
Jayne Montgomery
The Beginning...
Experience, Insight and a New Vision for Wellbeing
Dermasoma® was founded by Jayne Montgomery, drawing upon decades of experience across beauty, skincare, aroma, education and wellbeing.
Throughout her career, Jayne was the UK Trainer for large beauty and Wellness Company, successfully owned and operated a chain of hair and beauty salons, delivered professional seminars and lectures throughout the UK and Europe, appeared on television, and written extensively on skincare, wellness and personal development.
Working closely with thousands of clients over many years provided a unique insight into the changing needs of the wellbeing market.
Jayne observed that many people were searching for something beyond beauty treatments, fitness classes or traditional wellness services. Increasingly, they were seeking experiences that helped them reconnect with themselves through greater awareness, presence, sensory engagement and embodied wellbeing.
This observation became the foundation for what would later evolve into Dermasoma®.
A Personal Journey -That Shaped a Method
Alongside her professional experience, a significant personal chapter would further influence the creation of Dermasoma®.
Following the end of a long-term marriage characterised by narcissistic and emotionally challenging dynamics, Jayne became increasingly interested in the relationship and connection between emotional experience, nature, skin, the nervous system, body and senses.
She became fascinated by how life experiences can influence not only our thoughts and emotions, but also the way we breathe, move, hold tension and experience ourselves within our bodies.
This curiosity led her to explore somatic awareness, sensory perception, touch, breathwork, aroma and embodied wellbeing, examining how these elements influence self-awareness, connection and overall wellbeing.
When Experience Becomes Healing
When the Body Listens...
Jayne began exploring how the integration of
skin awareness, touch, aroma and sensory experience within movement could influence the way we connect with ourselves on a deeper level.
Through this exploration, Jayne developed a new understanding and perspective on movement and wellbeing, and with it, Dermasoma® was born… where experience creates new healing, and where the body is allowed to be heard.
The Question That Sparked Dermasoma®
Throughout this exploration, one question repeatedly emerged:
“What role do the skin, aroma and senses play in how we experience ourselves, and why are they so often overlooked within movement and wellbeing practices?”
Drawing upon her extensive background in skincare and wellbeing, Jayne began asking a second question:
“What if movement could become something more than exercise?”
She noticed profound differences in how she felt when immersed in nature, moving intuitively, breathing deeply, engaging her senses and becoming fully present within her surroundings.
These experiences revealed a deeper dimension of wellbeing—one that extended beyond movement alone and into the relationship between sensation, awareness, touch, aroma and embodied experience.
When the Body Listens...
When the Body Is Allowed to Be Heard
As her exploration deepened, Jayne began developing a framework that integrated movement, touch, sensory engagement, skin awareness and ritual into a structured participant experience.
Over time, these concepts evolved into a distinctive methodology that would
eventually become Dermasoma®.
Today, Dermasoma® reflects both professional expertise and lived experience, bringing together movement, sensory awareness, touch, aroma and nervous system support
within a structured and scalable wellbeing system.
It is founded on a simple belief:
When people reconnect with their senses, they reconnect with themselves.
And from that connection, meaningful wellbeing can emerge
An introduction to the four Dermasoma programmes—each a unique somatic journey shaped by the Dermasoma method. In this video, I explain how the programmes differ, what each one offers, and how together they create a complete pathway through movement, touch, and embodied learning.
